ACHIEVEMENTS

MINCA's 2010 CARBON CUTS SHORT FILM COMPETITION

MINCA’s short-film competition, funded by the Department of Environment and Resource Management, and based on the theme: ‘Protecting the Environment by Reducing our Carbon Footprint’, can only be described as an outstanding success!

The event attracted an amazing 16 films – all bar one of which was made on the island by islanders (not bad for a resident population of around 2500!). There were 8 films in the ‘Under 18 years’ category and 8 in the ‘18 years and over’ category.

The World Premier Screening and Awards took place on Sunday 6 June 2010  (World Environment Day) at Magnetic Island’s All Seasons Hotel. Around 170 people made it standing room only in the Endeavour Room – with others sitting on tables and the floor!

The films have been uploaded to YouTube; you'll find them here
