FREECYCLE - SAVING THE WORLD ONE GIFT AT A TIME
Are you wondering if there's an alternative to the tip for that just slightly wobbly chair, extra tin of paint, spare bed, or collection of glass jars that you no longer need?
Looking for a few blocks to finish your chook pen, a 10mm knitting needles to make up your pair, or a wheelbarrow to use in the garden?
Freecycle may be able to help.
Freecycle is all about reusing and keeping good stuff out of landfills. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own communities - and is based on the old adage 'what's trash for one is treasure for another'.
Thanks to MINCA, Magnetic Island has its own branch of Freecycle, one of 4,935 around the world. Membership is free, and everything except pets and people can be offered or asked for – subject to the approval of the local moderator. New 'offers' and 'wanteds' are emailed to all members, so members are kept informed of what is up for grabs and what is being sought...
