The first Island Community Plan (MICDA) proved invaluable as support for funding and demonstrating community cohesiveness to all levels of government. MICDA is promoting an inspirational community dinner on Saturday 3 November and a morning tea on Sunday 4 November. It would be good to have a strong MINCA presence and members are encouraged to attend this event. Invitation and details below. MAGNETIC ISLAND - 2013 AND BEYOND! Sat 3 Nov: An invitation to all, to attend an inspirational community dinner with 3 talented and entertaining speakers. Meet: Mark and Judy Evans - Paronella Park Mark and Judy are the rescuers and creators of Paronella Park, and in the process, they have won about every business and tourism award available. The Park's success is due to its guests receiving a not-to-be-forgotten experience resulting in word-of-mouth promotion - and you can't get any better than that! They employ more than 40 locals, and as such, have rejuvenated the village of Mena Creek near Innisfail. They have built an excellent rapport with local indigenous communities and actively support environmental projects. Being great speakers, they are eager to offer their thoughts about 'Community and Tourism Working Together to Reap Mutual Benefits' Peter Kenyon - Bank of IDEAS & The Centre for Small Town Development Over the last two decades Peter has worked with over 1000 communities throughout Australia and overseas seeking to facilitate fresh and creative ways that stimulate community and economic renewal.
